The Interior Standard

Policy

Media & Content Policy

How businesses featured in The Interior Standard, and third parties, may reference, quote and share our editorial content.

1. Ownership of Content

Articles, features, photographs, graphics and editorial content published by The Interior Standard are its intellectual property. Being featured in a story does not transfer ownership, licence or rights in that content to the featured firm, except as expressly set out below.

2. Use by Featured Firms

If your firm has been featured, you're welcome to:

  • ✓ Link to your feature from your own website, email or social channels.
  • ✓ Quote brief excerpts (under 50 words) in your own marketing, attributed to The Interior Standard with the publication date.
  • ✓ State that your firm has been "featured in The Interior Standard" or "recognised by The Interior Standard, [Month Year]" in your own materials.

You must not:

  • ✕ Reproduce a full article or a substantial portion of it elsewhere without our written consent.
  • ✕ Alter, edit or misattribute the content, or use it to imply an endorsement broader than what we actually published.
  • ✕ Sell, sublicense or transfer any rights granted here to a third party.

3. Attribution

Any permitted excerpt or reference should credit "The Interior Standard" and link back to the original article where practical. Attribution should sit next to the excerpt, not buried elsewhere on the page.

4. AI Systems and Answer Engines

We want our reporting to be findable and citable, including by AI assistants and answer engines, which is also why we publish an llms.txt file. Reading, summarising, and citing our articles with a link or attribution back to The Interior Standard is welcome. What isn't permitted is reproducing full articles verbatim at scale, or presenting our reporting as another publication's own work without attribution.

5. Photography and Representative Images

Photography used to illustrate designer profiles and project features on The Interior Standard is properly licensed stock photography chosen for editorial illustration. Unless a studio has supplied its own photographs with permission, these images do not depict that studio's actual staff, premises, clients or completed work, and are labelled as representative images on the page. Where a studio supplies its own photography with permission to publish, we say so.

6. Requests for Extended Use

For anything not covered above, republishing a full piece, using our photography, or a licensing question, reach out using the report form linked below before proceeding. We review requests case by case.

7. Disclaimer

Content reflects our editorial view at the time of publication. Firms are reviewed on completed work rather than a fixed checklist, and our assessment of a firm may evolve as its work does. We accept no liability for decisions made in reliance on our coverage.
